When designing a web page, it’s obvious that you want it to have great quality and an amazing appeal. But let’s be honest – you also want the process to be as simple and hassle-free as possible. Style Sheets allow you to do both.
Let’s say you are working on a web site for a resort. Your client wants a clean and professional look for the site, and you know this means consistency in design for all pages. You decide to use the <font Arial, size 12> for the main categories and the same font <size 11> to the text body. After viewing the completed site, the client decides that he wants a different font, size and color for all of the text. If you did not use style sheets while designing the site, this could be quite a dilatory task. You would have to go back to each page and manually change the style of the text. However, if you did use style sheets, the changes would be a breeze. You would simply need to edit the style sheet and, voila, the changes would automatically be applied to all the text on the site within that style sheet. It really does save a load of time and frustration. In addition to this, the use of style sheet is an easy way to ensure a clean and consistent look throughout the site. No need to reference already-designed pages for font style; the style sheet does all the remembering for you. And who doesn’t need a little help in that department?
