Facebook Privacy Settings – Do you really want to be used in Facebook ads?

Do you want your Facebook actions to control what ads show up on your friends Facebook wall?  You know those ads; the ones that show pictures of Jennifer Aniston telling you how you can look 20 years younger?  Or the ones that promise you can lose 10 pounds in 5 days?  You may be appearing in these ads if you are not aware of the Facebook privacy setting that allows for this.

The Facebook News Feed and Wall setting states:

“Facebook occasionally pairs advertisements with relevant social actions from a user’s friends to create Facebook Ads. Facebook Ads make advertisements more interesting and more tailored to you and your friends. These respect all privacy rules. You may opt out of appearing in your friends’ Facebook Ads below.”

So how can you disable this?

When logged into Facebook navigate to “Settings”

Choose “News Feed and Wall” from the privacy settings page

Choose “Facebook Ads” from the News Feed and Wall page and set “Appearance in Facebook Ads” to No one

Twitter Releases Twitter 101

Twitter 101 is a site that contains documentation on how to best use Twitter. It appears to be mostly geared towards businesses, which is evident from the domain name http://business.twitter.com/.

What Twitter says they can do for businesses
“Twitter is a communications platform that helps businesses and their customers do a number of useful things. As a business, you can use it to quickly share information with people interested in your company, gather real-time market intelligence and feedback, and build relationships with customers, partners and other people who care about your company. As an individual user, you can use Twitter to tell a company (or anyone else) that you’ve had a great–or disappointing–experience with their business, offer product ideas, and learn about great offers.”

Twitter 101

It seems pretty obvious that Twitter is putting effort in positioning itself as a business tool and wants to appeal to businesses.  I think this is smart especially if they want to monetize their platform.  I foresee in the near future this business.twitter.com domain hosting other business apps or accounts.

We will have to wait and see what comes of this.  If they can offer some great business tools and come up with some good solutions for managing all the spam that comes through, I think many businesses will be interested.

Success is Built By Surrounding Yourself With People You Trust

TrustI am writing as I’m up late but thinking about how lucky I am. I had a long day of work (17 hours). While a 17-hour day would scare many away, it actually makes me feel lucky. Why? Because that 17-hour day was filled with me spending time working in my own business.

Oftentimes during the day, I stop to think of how something I am doing will affect or benefit others who work in the company. In fact, I obsess over it. Why? Because my company is built on people I trust. We are a small company but every single one of us is family. Literally! Will Go Smart always be made up of family members? Probably not, but it is important to me that whoever I bring on in the future will be as trustworthy as if they were.

The success of Go Smart Solutions has been made possible because of the trust and dedication we have for each other. That trust and dedication pours into our services, products and our members.
